Adults over fifty years of age should use mouthwash that is free of alcohol. As you get older, you are more likely to have sensitive teeth and gums, and alcohol can inflame these areas. Choose one with fluoride to keep your teeth strong. Use a mouthwash at least twice a day.
The position you are holding your toothbrush in dictates how well you are actually brushing your teeth. You should always try to keep your toothbrush at an angle. Use small, gentle, circular strokes. Avoid brushing with too much force to prevent gum irritation.
One of the worst feelings is to have a seed or some other foreign object caught between your teeth. Do not try to force it out with a fork or other hard object. Take a small length of floss and gently try to remove it. If it does not come out, visit your dentist, and they can help remove it.
